Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Article URLs or typed news topics you submit, and the source-check reports and infographics generated from them.
• Run and status identifiers used to track your requested check.
• Plugin funnel events: run_created, link_opened, signup_started, and claimed.
• Basic technical and security logs, and website usage events collected through PostHog.
• Account data only when you sign in or claim a run: your Google name, email address, and profile picture.

Why we use this information

We use it to run the source check you requested, make and show the infographic, let you claim and access results, manage your account, prevent abuse and enforce limits, troubleshoot problems, and measure whether the website and plugin work.

Who processes information

We do not sell your data. We share information only as needed to run or support the service, or when legally required. Providers process information for their part of the service:

• OpenAI / ChatGPT transmits your plugin request and displays the result.
• Gumloop and its subprocessors run the source-check and visual workflows.
• Jina searches public coverage for typed news topics.
• Lovable Cloud stores accounts, reports, events, and images using its hosted database and storage provider.
• Cloudflare routes and protects the plugin’s MCP endpoint.
• Google provides sign-in.
• PostHog processes website usage events and technical diagnostics to help us understand usage and troubleshoot.

How long we keep information

• Unclaimed ChatGPT run database records are automatically deleted after 30 days.
• Generated image files are retained for no more than 90 days.
• Claimed runs and account runs stay until account deletion or a deletion request.
• Plugin funnel event records are retained for up to 12 months.
• Provider security logs follow the providers’ own retention periods.

Your choices and requests

You can avoid providing account data by not signing in or claiming a run. Your submitted link or topic still needs to be processed by the providers involved in completing your check.

To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, email chris@notsoboringnews.com. Deletion may take up to 30 days, and backup copies may persist briefly after deletion.
